Cocktails and clay
These pottery workshops are the perfect way to introduce yourself to throwing on the wheel without having to commit to a multi-week class. You will spend the 2.5 hour class learning beginner’s throwing techniques from a local ceramic artist and will create 2-3 pieces all your own. Bring some snacks and drinks, get a little muddy, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. All trimming, glazing, and firings will be completed by the instructor and you can pick up your pieces 3-4 weeks after the workshop.
private workshops (Design your own)
Whether it’s a bachelorette party or family reunion, a private workshop at Erie ClaySpace is the perfect way to get your group together. With eight wheels and space for up to 16 people, ClaySpace can accommodate most small groups. In the past, we’ve hosted wheel workshops, tandem throwing classes, and hand building lessons for groups such as:
Family and friends
Boy/Girl Scout merit badges
Corporate team building
Book and social clubs
Field trips and after school programs
Refugee and international groups
Special needs groups

4 and 6 Week classes
If you’re looking for a new hobby, trying to add another medium to your portfolio, or you just want to get your hands dirty with something fun, our multi-week classes are for you. 4 and 6 week ceramics classes at Erie ClaySpace offer something for all skill levels.
Whether it’s hand building, sculpture, or wheel throwing, you’ll leave each class with knowledge about many aspects of working with clay. Depending on the class, you can expect to learn about the physical properties of clay, how to make simple/complex forms, how to finish and decorate your forms with various techniques, and the process of firing and glazing your work.
Open Studio Sessions:
Included in the cost of each 4 or 6 week class are free Saturday Open Studio sessions. While classes are in session, every student enrolled in a multi-week ceramics class may use the studio on Saturdays from 11am-1pm to practice newly learned skills. While there is no instruction during this time, Erie ClaySpace staff are available to provide guidance and assistance as needed.
